Our class have recently been reading a box set of Michael Morpurgo’s novels . The last book we have read has been War Horse . Here is a little review we put together . This book is mainly about a horse’s experience as a war horse . He starts off with his mother but is then sold in the local horse fair , the man who buys him is drunk at the time but his son Albert takes good care of him and names him Joey . Albert’s father needs the money for a heavey to plough so sells him to the army . Joey learns to become a war horse by his new friend Topthorn . When him and Topthorn are taken away , their new job is to pull the ambulance cart . When the war cools down Topthorn and Joey get to go and live with a girl and her grandad . After a year the army comes back and takes them away . Thats all we’re going to tell you , but we would definitely recommend the book and film for you .

picture of solar system

Random Facts about the Solar System

Jupiter is the biggest planet.  It is 11 times bigger than the Earth. Neptune, Uranus,  Saturn and Jupiter have rings. The rings are made of ice and dust. The sun is the most important part of the solar system  because it holds the planets in their positions.  Venus is the second planet from the sun. It is covered in clouds of poisonous gas.  There is a storm on Jupiter that has gone on for at least 180 years. The Earth is the perfect distance from the sun to support life.  Stars look like they are twinkling because we are looking at them through our atmosphere. It takes the Earth 365 days to orbit the sun.  Giant jets of gas shoot up from the surface of the sun. The moon is the same age as the Earth.  Mars is called the red planet because of oxidisation by Carbon Dioxide or in other words it is rusty. Mars is cold and dusty.

A Poem For Mr Malone

Although we know that you must go,

(It has brought our spirits down quite low),

I have written on this very page ,

The story of the ‘ Malone Age’.

You practiced sing-song with our wonderous choir,

And made us sing our hearts out when we met Sam Maguire.

Then, when 4 Joeys students made it into the C.U. quiz,

You trained them until they were the smartest kids.

Even your daughter has your flair,

She taught us to dance so debonair.

So though it’s sad to say goodbye,

We hope your retirement you enjoy.

For in a suit or in a dress,

You’ll always be ‘Simply The Best’.
